Standards & Ratings Clinic Dec. 5

On Sunday, December 5th, the NJPC region will run a standards and ratings clinic at the USET indoor arena. It will be run by long time National Examiner, Betsey Reeves. This clinic is very helpful for all PC raters to understand what the National standards are for rating pony clubbers and is very helpful for EVERYONE in understanding what the "next step" is that they will have to acheive for a higher rating. I encourage everyone to attend.

There will be a small $5.00 fee to attend the clinic and lunch will be included. We are looking for ponies and riders to demonstrate all the different ratings. We need D1, D2, and D3 riders (4 of each)and 4 ponies that would be suitable for and ridden by all three levels of riders. The ponies would be ridden for 1/2 hour at each rating level with a 15 minute break in between. Jumping would probably be limited to gridwork. Ponies and tack should be clean and neat as for formal inspection at the D level and riders should be similarly turned out with perhaps a neat sweater or jacket instead of a show jacket. Additionally we need 4 C1s and 4 C2s and 4 ponies or horses that are suitable for both levels. Horses will perform flat and gridwork at both levels for 1/2 hour with 15 min. between their 2 riders at the 2 different levels. Again, horses and riders should be turned out properly. We will probably look for 7 or 8 C3s, Bs and As to ride all at the same time.

If you volunteer, understand that as you are riding, Mrs. Reeves will be doing a commentary for the observers, explaining what you are doing that demonstrates that level of riding and possibly what you will need to improve upon to achieve the next higher rating. If you are bringing a pony, you must bring a clean, neat, SUITABLE animal with clean tack that can jump the appropriate heights. If you volunteer to ride another person's mount, you need to be someone who is comfortable riding a strange pony. Let me know if you have any questions or are interested in volunteering a pony or a pony/rider combination. -- Patti C.
