More Details on "D" Eventing; Rally Prep Sessions to be Scheduled

Cathy B. has provided some helpful answers and clarifications about the "D" Eventing Rally.

-- Participants do NOT have to enter as a team (even though the form looks like you're supposed to have a prearranged team). Just let Cathy know you are coming or want to come and she will pair you up with the other kids in the club that are coming.

-- Right now the following are the names Cathy has:

Olivia and Rebecca B
Sydney C
Kassi E
Kim and Kristen J
Deena C
Claudia F
Cord R
(Possibly) Eric S
Taylor R and Nicole P, if they can find trailering
Anna M is bringing her green pony
Louise H
Beth H
--- for a total of 15 kids

-- Cathy will be having preps for the rally at her farm (directions below) as follows, at a cost of $10/participant, with older pony clubbers working with the kids:

* Tues, Thurs. and Fri , Aug. 9, 11, & 12 at 6:00pm
* an overall meeting of all competitors at her house on Saturday the 13th at 5:30 PM, or in the a.m. Sunday the 14th (I have mentioned that there is a DVHA show on Sunday some may be planning to attend)

DIRECTIONS:
* From Ringoes: Take route 604 to end in Rosemont. Turn right onto Route 519 north. Go about 3-4 miles on 519 and you will see a white metal bridge (right after route 651 which goes off on the left). Continue on route 519 over the bridge and take the second road on your left after this bridge (Barbertown-Idell Rd). Go in one mile and road will 90° turn to left. From this 90° turn, Cathy B.'s barn driveway is about 1/4 mile down on the left. Pull into barn driveway and you can turn around on the grass to park.
* From Hopewell: Take route 31 into Ringoes, go onto Route 579 right past Carousel Deli, and take route 579 to route 604 (about 1/2 + miles) Turn left onto route 604 (as if you were going to DVHA showgrounds) and refer to above directions.
* Alternate: Take route 518 into Lambertville. At last stop sign, go right to light and turn left towards town. Go one block and turn right onto route 2 9 north. Continue on route 29 through Stockton. In the center of Stockton past the Stockton Inn, route 523 will go off up the hill. Stay on route 29. A little further down you will come to the Prallsville Mill State Park on your left. Route 29 makes a sharp right turn here and then a sharp left turn. Instead of making the sharp left turn, go straight ahead at that point onto route 519 north. This will take you into Rosemont. In Rosemont the road will turn sharply to the right and then to the left. After that you will pass where route 604 comes in on the right. Continue on 519 north and follow the directions above for the rest.

-- Since HHPC is in charge of the XC course, Cathy will be asking those parents who are coming to volunteer for one of the jobs there (such as fence judge).

Cathy explains:
"The rally is being run this way. Each area has one of our clubs in charge of it:
Dressage - Somerset Hills
XC - HHPC
Stadium - Cream Ridge
Food for sale - Pineland Riders
Scoring - Amwell (with help from others)
Written test - Spring Valley + others
HM - older kids with adult HM guidance

So -- everyone will be involved. I will also need volunteers to get the ribbons ready for the awards at the end of the day, so there will be lots of opportunity to volunteer without killing yourself. Thanks for the heads up and spread the word that the competitors do not have to and should not make their own teams, but rather let me know who is coming and I will form the teams. That usually works better."

Thanks
