UPDATE -- Horse Shows at MCEC as Fundraisers - note prize list posted at right
The following has been sent by Carol Santosusso, fundraising coordinator.
Hunterdon Hills Pony Club Families:
I'm not sure how much you have heard about the fun "Shaggy Horse" shows we (HHPC) are organizing at Mercer County Equestrian Center (MCEC) on Sundays January 14, February 11 and March 11. While we want to encourage participation by PC members, these are "open" shows (let's raise money from outside, yeah!)
Last year EMMA ran these shows but due to personal reasons, cannot do it this year. EMMA has been very helpful giving us information and are allowing us to use the "Shaggy Horse Show" name. The primary participants last year were western riders from 2 barns less than 4 miles from MCEC.
If we can boost the English entries (which were almost non-existent) we should be able to make $1000 or more. The 4-H Horse Club has offered to get series end awards. If Andrea & I, with your help, can get ad sponsors at $25 per show; fence sponsors at $50 per show; series end sponsors at $100 they would give us a banner to be displayed at each show.
Six ribbons and gift certificate will be awarded in each class. Entry fee will be $15 per class. Western classes will start at 8:30 AM; Leadline not before Noon; English classes not before 1:00 PM. Attire and turnout - Boots and Helmets required, safe tack, otherwise "casual".
Here comes the zinger. Andrea Henneman and I cannot do this by ourselves, we NEED your help. The proceeds from this fund raiser will pay for ratings for 1/year/child. If we can raise enough money we might be able to help pay for rally entries both regional and nationals.
Right now we have 26 families with children that means each family needs to work at one show for the entire day. I'm sure that one of the 3 dates is open on your calender (January 14, February 11, and March 11). We need the following positions filled, which will be familiar from Pony Club rallies:
Parking - 2 people need to be at the show by 8 AM
Ring Crew - 2 people
Secretaries - 2 people need to be at the show by 8 AM
Gate Keeper
Starter
Ringmaster
Runner
Andrea should be signing contracts this coming week. Then we will distribute flyers and prizelists, something that was not done in the past; people found out about the show by word of mouth.
I expect to be calling asking for your date and job commitment shortly after December 1, 2006.
Thanks for your support!
