Cathy Brogan's comments follow:
The weather gods were with us again and the day was perfect for a rally in August - not too hot, sunny with a breeze, and not too humid. The competition was a lot of fun for all. A few bumps and bruises along the way. One competitor's pony hurt her rider's hand and wrist during a naughty run away, and one horse was hurt by jumping into a fence in stadium, but neither is too serious.
Thank you to all of our competitors who did such a good job. Horse Management at this rally was really, really good. Such clean ponies, and you all seem to know what to do during the day. Almost no HM penalties for anyone. (The worst was for being very late to formals which I am sure that team will never do again). Our XC jumping does need a little more practice, but between now and next year, I am sure all the
clubs will do a lot more instruction both in XC and stadium jumping. Next year we want to see all of you finish on your dressage scores (which will also be better by next year).
Thank you to all our volunteers. We rely on you to make this work for our kids. Thank you to all our older members who came out and helped so well during the day.
Thank you to all the clubs who did the jobs so well - dressage Cream Ridge, XC Hunterdon Hills, Stadium Somerset Hills, and the other clubs who also did their jobs when asked. Thank you Pineland Riders for feeding us all day and Thank you to Huntington Valley Hunt for helping with the scoring. For next year we will rearrange the Stadium Jumping so that the D1's can do it during the morning while others are doing dressage. This will make the day finish a lot earlier and that will be a bonus for all.
Any suggestions are always welcome. I sent a separate email about the Photographer who was taking pictures. Contact him if you might be interested. I am sure that we will do this next year and I would like a vote on whether or not we should keep it during the week or move it to a weekend. Please poll your clubs and get me an answer asap - weekday or weekend for next year.
