From Chris T, Rating Coordinator, on the Oct. 27 rating:
“Everyone passed their rating today. It went swimmingly, and I mean that we actually thought we might have to start swimming at some point. Strong winds and pouring rains prevailed. All three girls in the D3 testing (Marne, Nina and Mary Beth) were on horses that were new to them. The weather was just horrible, and yet, there was not one negative word, tear, nor even a bit of discouragement.

The sun decided to shine as our next group of riders entered the ring. Splashing through the puddles, Fiona, Mercy, Emma, Claire and Ellen went through the paces of D2. Ellen decided, since she was on a horse rather new to her, to leave out the jumping and just go for a D1. She rode well and will soon be back to finish up her work toward D2.

Everyone else came out of the rating a D2. Congratulations to all. A huge thank you to Barbara Hay for standing in the pouring rain and acting like nothing was wrong and encouraging the kids to do their best. Thanks to Janet Goodwin who was the I/O and spent the day providing food and jackets and moral support. Thanks to the McG family for letting us slide in and use their farm. Their wonderful new place provided the needed shelter from the rain (except where is that indoor arena??? new project) for our knowledge and formals. Thanks to Geneva who spent her birthday sloshing around in the rain with Barbara and quizzing for knowledge.

Last week at Silver Dollar, with Pinelands Riders Club hosting, Megan McG and Ian McG achieved D3 rating. That was another wonderful rating. They managed to order nicer weather, and thanks to Pat Feifert for hosting, Anne Stevens for providing the site and Kate Brogan for doing a wonderful job as examiner.

That's all there is on the ratings front for 2007.....except maybe we have an A candidate in December??" Until 2008, Chris Torsilieri
